Automated receiver monitoring method and apparatus

A method and apparatus are provided for determining a particular transmitting station from which program signals are received and translated by a monitored receiver within a test area and including mobile receivers. A stored transmitter characteristic table includes a corresponding transmitting station identification stored with a predefined subarea of a plurality of predefined subareas within the test area for each predetermined tuned frequency of the monitored receiver. A tuned frequency of the monitored receiver is identified and the particular transmitting station corresponding to the identified tuned frequency is identified responsive to both the identified tuned frequency of the monitored receiver and the stored transmitter characteristic table. The identified transmitting station data is stored with time of occurrence data.

An audience measurement system meters tuning of a receiver which receives a plurality of program signals transmitted over a plurality of channels. The receiver is located in an audience site within a dwelling, and the plurality of program signals enter the dwelling through a service entrance and are supplied therefrom to the audience site. The audience measurement system includes a code inserter, a decoder, and a home unit. The code inserter inserts a local code in each of the program signals at a location which is intermediate the service entrance and the audience site. This local code includes a unique local code inserter ID and a code inserter time stamp. The decoder decodes the unique local code inserter ID and the code inserter time stamp at the audience site. The home unit is located in the dwelling and collects and stores the decoded unique local code inserter ID and code inserter time stamp.

L’invention concerne un système de calcul du taux d’écoute pour télévision et radio numériques. Ce système fait appel à des codes d’identification compris dans des trains (C) de contrôle d’émissions (12) numériques à multiplexage dans le temps. Lorsqu’un poste (22) de télévision ou de radio contrôlé au moyen de ce système est allumé et réglé sur un canal, et à chaque changement de canal, un code d’identification pour chaque train numérique audio, vidéo ou train numérique auxiliaire du canal est extrait du train de contrôle et enregistré en même temps que l’heure. L’heure est également enregistrée lorsque le poste de télévision ou de radio est éteint, Ces données permettent de déterminer quelles stations, canaux et émissions sont regardés ou écoutés à un quelconque moment par les auditeurs faisant l’objet du contrôle.

Um sistema de avaliação de audiência para televisão e rádio digitais, usando códigos de identificação em correntes de controle de transmissões digitais multiplexadas de tempo. Quando um conjunto de televisão ou rádio, que está sendo monitorado de acordo com o sistema, é ligado e sintonizado em um canal, e cada tempo que o canal é mudado, um código de identificação para cada áudio, vídeo ou corrente digital auxiliar do canal é extraído a partir da corrente de controle, e registrado junto com o tempo. O tempo é também registrado quando o conjunto de televisão ou rádio é desligado. Estes dados tornam possível determinar quais estações, canais e membros de programas da audiência sendo monitorados são assistidos ou ouvidos em qualquer tempo particular.
